Glass film is one of those quiet upgrades nobody thinks about until they have lived through one Delhi summer with a west-facing balcony or a ground-floor window facing a neighbour's drawing room. The fix is a 50-micron PVC film, applied to the inside face of the glass, that solves a specific problem — privacy, heat, glare, decoration — without altering the window itself.

Glass film is fast to fit and slow to fail — provided the application is clean. The most common reason a film bubbles or peels in the second year is dust trapped under the membrane during the wet apply. We use a soap-water spray, a fresh squeegee blade for every job, and we never re-use a film off-cut from another window. The fitter who applies the film is the same one who measured it on the visit before.

The other reason a film fails is wrong-side application. Sun-control films work best on the inside surface of the glass. Decorative and privacy films work either way, but inside is easier to maintain and less exposed to weather. We default to inside unless the window geometry forces otherwise.

Sun-control / heat-reduction — metallised film that reflects 50 – 80 percent of solar heat. Best for west and south-facing windows. Lower indoor temperature, lower AC load, less furniture fade.
Decorative pattern — geometric, floral and minimalist patterns cut from a base frosted film. Excellent for office partitions, front-door side-lights and pooja-room glass.
Mirror finish — one-way visibility (lighter side sees through to the darker side). For ground-floor windows facing the street, or bathroom windows above eye level.
Safety film — clear film that holds shattered glass together in case of impact. Less glamorous, more practical — particularly for play schools, clinics with children, and balcony glass railings.

What the install visit looks like

We arrive with a tape, the chosen film roll, a sprayer and a squeegee. We clean the glass twice — once with a degreaser and once with the soap-water solution — then apply the film, squeegee from the centre out, and trim the edges. The film is bubbled-out and fully transparent within an hour. The window is usable the same day; the film cures fully in 24 to 48 hours.

A typical home with five to seven windows takes a single afternoon. Lead time from order is 1 to 2 days for in-stock films, and up to a week for custom-cut decorative patterns.

What is the warranty?

Twelve months on workmanship. The film itself carries a manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling and fading — typically five years on premium imported sun-control films and three years on frosted.
